CAUSE 4 CONCERN [Virus / Metro / 1210 / Renegade Hardware ] UK

That every cause has an effect is common knowledge. For Optiv, Stuart, Mark and Tobie, the cause is drum & bass, and their effect is both indelible and undeniable.Known collectively as Cause 4 Concern, the crew came together back at the start of 1999, when Optiv and Tobie were affiliated with Aspect Records, and Mark and Stuart were working for Vinyl Distribution. A testament to their talent, it took only a few short months of collaborative creation before they scored their first signing – and not just to any old label – but the massive and seminal Moving Shadow. At the time they were known as nCode, but by July they had become Cause 4 Concern and started their own imprint label. The first 12” dropped that December, and secured the support of DJs Doc Scott, Fierce and Grooverider, amongst many others. Releases on respected labels Tru Playaz, Renegade Hardware, Moving Shadow and Timeless Recordings were to follow, and left little doubt that this was one crew to keep an eye on. Promoters right across the planet couldn’t help but pay attention, and consequently there aren’t many places C4C haven’t performed. Such was the success of Cause4Concern Recordings that 2001 saw the launch of sister label C4C Limited. Intended as an outlet for experimental tracks and remixes of previous C4C releases by other established artists, the imprint has so far seen input from producers Stakka & Skynet, Teebee, Matrix, Fierce and Rymetyme. By the end of the year, C4C had been nominated in the ‘ Best Newcomers’ category of the Knowledge Magazine Drum & Bass Awards. Impressing their peers as well as the press, demand for their product increased, resulting in releases on renowned labels BC Presents, Metro, Quarantine and Virus. This well deserved exposure expedited their inevitable ascent through the ranks of the Drum & Bass scene Recently reformed after a few years of inactivity, 2007 sees the formidable foursome known as Cause 4 Concern return to wreak havoc with their first full length album. Spread over five separate 12”s to be followed by a double CD, Pandemic picks up right where the lads left off – the leading edge of electronic music. All of the elements that made them one of the most exciting and entertaining production posses in drum ‘n’ bass remain intact, and are both refined and reinforced.

KAKAROT + ARION LEEIn Purgatory:YOUR DIRTY HABIT [System Recordings / Heartbreak / Re:connect] Electro

A habit is a hard thing to beat or kick and may even cause you to snare. But like all habitual patterns Your Dirty Habit did not start at the clinic but with a single vision.
Eric Erwin and Dave Galloway are the minds behind Your Dirty Habit. Formed out of a mutual love of music; all music, the boys have quickly made their presence felt throughout the southeast with remixes that push boundaries and original material that defines the future. Equally contributing in the studio and during live performance this cohesive unit continues to surprise with each new track delivering innovative results. With open minds, keen ears, and deft production work Your Dirty Habit have solidified themselves in the musical community and have no intentions of slowing down. Outsourcing talent is also a major part of their methodology as stated here, "We welcome any chance to work with like minded producers that are not confined to a niche. By implementing foreign talents we are able to keep a fresh perspective and create music that is not bound by inhibitions."
RICHARD DEVINE [Warp Records / Schematic Records / Apshodel / Sublight] Minimal Techno

Richard Devine is an Atlanta-based electronic musician. He is recognized for producing a layered and heavily processed sound, combining influences from old and modern electronic music. Devine largely records for the Miami-based Schematic Records. As a result of praise of his music from Autechre as well as a remix of Aphex Twin's Come To Daddy, Devine recorded an album for Warp Records which was jointly released by Schematic and Warp.
Devine first started using computers for composition around 1993. Don Hassler, an instructor at the Atlanta College of Art, got him interested in computer synthesis, introducing Devine to CSound and other powerful computer-based applications. Devine claims he coded a couple FFT applications in SuperCollider, an environment and programming language for real-time audio synthesis. “It’s interesting, because you’re doing things to sound that just aren’t physically possible.”
Devine also uses Native Instruments (NI) software. His favorite NI applications are Reaktor and Absynth. Devine has also designed sound patches for NI’s Absynth. He has also scored commercials for Nike and Touchstone Pictures, and engineered and performed his own music worldwide.
